I’m often drawn to photographing things from the past. To me, having something in the photography that’s from, say, the 1950s makes the photograph more interesting. Why, because although it may have been incredibly ordinary and common back in those days, it’s not ordinary or common anymore; and it does represent a little slice of history.
Think about the photographs you’re making today. Maybe some of them might seem a little ordinary today. But what will it be like when you look back on that photo in 10 – 20 years. It could give you a much different feeling.
One of my favorite aspects of photography is the long game; looking back on your photos from the past and see how you feel about something that you might not have given that much attention to back in the day. Enjoy.
