Photography Matters Ep 33 – Photo Shoot with Yuli Shumilova, Tri-X and Cheap Lighting

July 20, 2018 by Ted

This photo shoot gave me so much to look forward to – shooting with Yuli, shooting with Tri-X and using some unusual lighting. The results… I couldn’t be happier with what we got that night.

The Shots

For this shoot I used my M6 with Tri-X pushed to 1600, going back and forth between Summicron 35mm and 50mm, depending on the shot. I also took a few digital images with my Leica M (typ262). I’ve posted a couple of those shots on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter today, but the main point of the shoot was to check out Tri-X pushed to 1600 for this kind of intimate shoot, so the shots on this post are all shot on film. Enjoy.

Still plenty of window light to shoot with.

Light starting to go down, getting a little darker, moodier.

Now we’re using the 15 watt bulb reading lamp.

Now going for more of a low(er) key look. Still using the reading lamp with the 15 watt bulb.
